Countdown to release! 5 days: Chelsea Cameron's "Slowly We Trust"

SLOWLY WE TRUST by Chelsea M. Cameron

April 24, 2014

Audrey Valdez didn’t mean to fall for Will Anders. He isn’t her type. At all. But his goofy smile, Star Wars quotes and athletic body make it impossible. She's lived so long in the darkness and Will is like the sun. He makes her laugh more than she has in years and cares for her more than her own family.

But there are things about Audrey that Will doesn't know, things he can't know. She tries to push him away, but he just ends up getting closer to her, and to her secret. Is the risk of losing him forever worth the chance a being with the only person she's ever loved who has loved her back?

My review

I really enjoyed this book a lot. The more Chelsea writes, the more she evolves as a writer, and I have to say, she's good. I thought I loved the second book in this series, Faster We Burn, but when I read this one, my love paled in comparison. Will and Audrey are both great characters, and I really really love Will (just, don't tell my husband, also named Will, okay?; ) - he's kind and lovable and compassionate and patient. I identified with Audrey because I sort of had the same secret. I loved the camaraderie within the group of friends - we'd all be so lucky to have friends like these in college.

Here's a snippet of the review I posted on goodreads:

I love love love Will, and I actually sort of lived Audrey's secret. Because of her secret, she's afraid to get too close to Will, but Will loves her and refuses to give up - "Because I had to give it a shot. Because I love you and I didn't know what else to do."

The whole group of friends is great, and aside from the fact they are all ridiculously cute and kissy, I'd totally hang out with them. "You can only hang out with this group if you're a little f***ed up. You should also be a little of a nerd. It doesn't matter what about."
