Nina LaCour's "Everything Leads to You"

Nina LaCour's "Everything Leads to You"

From Goodreads:

A love letter to the craft and romance of film and fate in front of—and behind—the camera from the award-winning author of Hold Still.
A wunderkind young set designer, Emi has already started to find her way in the competitive Hollywood film world.
Emi is a film buff and a true romantic, but her real-life relationships are a mess. She has desperately gone back to the same girl too many times to mention. But then a mysterious letter from a silver screen legend leads Emi to Ava. Ava is unlike anyone Emi has ever met. She has a tumultuous, not-so-glamorous past, and lives an unconventional life. She’s enigmatic…. She’s beautiful. And she is about to expand Emi’s understanding of family, acceptance, and true romance.

I really liked Nina's first book, "Hold Still," and I loved her second book, "The Disenchantments," so I knew as soon as this book was announced that I had to read it.

I was not disappointed.

This is not a road trip book, like "The Disenchantments," but it is it's own special journey - a journey through heartbreak, moving on, and learning to be brave. To go after what you want in life.

My favorite quote that isn't at all spoilery!

But I was wrong. There are no scenes in life, there are only minutes. And one are skipped over and they all lead to the next.

In addition to this book, this well written, great journey of discovery, Nina lets us have a peek into the film industry, and how the illusion is made.

I might change this eventually, but right now, whenever I think of a song to stick in this post, this is the one that keeps pushing the other thoughts out.
